Normand-Maurice Building
This $45 million CND building on the site of an abandoned foundry serves as the “green” prototype for Canadian government buildings. It houses the offices of the Naval Reserve, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other federal offices. The building reduces energy use by 61% by combining geothermal and radiant technologies. It was built largely with materials recycled from the original foundry. This includes the preservation and re-use of the foundry’s original façade.  Read the entire article: Canada’s Green Prototype
