Energy savings for four similar office buildings in the Houston area started with planting native vegetation on one roof. Designers found that the roof’s added insulation value and lower temperature reduced the cooling load, allowing them to reduce chiller capacity in future projects. FC Gulf Freeway’s graywater and condensate is reclaimed and used to flush toilets and urinals. Sheltered balconies on the eastern, western and southern faces shade glazing from direct sun.
