The Right Fit

Kentucky engineering firm CMTA designed its new office to function as a laboratory to test new technologies and demonstrate their cost effectiveness to clients. The building team balanced energy efficiency goals with the neighborhood’s architectural requirements, creating a building with a historic-style façade that incorporates green features such as solar photovoltaics and a high performance building envelope. Much of the space is daylit, and the second floor work areas receive supplemental natural light from six tubular devices in the roof. Insulated concrete forms serve as a structural wall system and reduce air infiltration. The office earned an ENERGY STAR rating of 100.
