Hawaii’s Living Laboratory
K-12 students learn about alternative energy and test their own renewable energy systems at a living lab that last year produced twice as much energy as it used. The building has been designed to meet the requirements of the Living Building Challenge including net zero water, net zero energy, and the exclusion of materials considered harmful to humans and the environment. A natural ventilation system takes advantage of the mild climate.
