Oakland University Human Health Building: Rochester, MI
Flagship for Health

At the Oakland University Human Health Building, the focus on wellness is apparent even before stepping inside. A landmark oak tree that was preserved during construction stands beside a restored wetland, providing a connection to nature as students and faculty rush to class or take a break in one of the multiple “living rooms” designed for studying, interaction or relaxation. The new facility, built in response to growing student enrollment, brings together the Schools of Nursing and Health Science and features advanced energy-efficient technologies such as solar heating and dehumidification. Learning spaces that simulate hospital environments and a public clinic help facilitate the goal of teaching patient-centered care.
